Seeking comeslogist for “Article” module

This is a copy from XPress

I am seeking comeslogist(s) for my module “Article”.
“Article” is a new module that I have been working on for almost one year.

Functionalities:

  • Typical article management
  • News management
  • Personal Blog

Features:

  1. Different templates/css for each individual article and category (A new trial I have created and hope it would benefit XOOPS modules)
  2. Cross-category
  3. Topic (Or special series)
  4. True multi-pages (no length limit for an article, another new feature I have created)
  5. Different level of edit forms
  6. Different article status (from created, personal, submitted, registered, published to featured)
  7. Keywords bridging
  8. Headings/Notes auto-generation
  9. Pingback/trackback

More features will be disclosed with public release.

If you have interest and to serve as “Article Comeslogist”, plz send me message or leave a comment here.
Note: There is no count limit on comeslogists since the “Article” has the capability to use various templates and CSSes on-fly.
Once your design is accepted, I would invite you as a co-author of the “Article”.

Dev status:

  • The coding part has been finished.
  • Xoops internal bridging system is being developed, partially implemented in the “Article”.
  • A default set of template/css created by myself, fully-CSS driven, but the skin is not beautiful.
  • Multi-user blog system, which is based on the “Article”, has been proposed.

Crash on xlanguage

This is copy from XPress.

A few months ago, when building a multilingual site with xlanguage, I found the site was crashed occasionally when xlanguage was enabled.
To fix the problem, I hacked the sections module to store different languages of contents with different column and let xlanguage watch slight contents only, like menu, titles, tables.

Yesterday pgroell reported the same problem. Very early this morning, I got his message:

i just found this on the net, maybe it ’s the problem.
http://www.phpbuilder.com/lists/php-documentation-list/2003101/0039.php
A bug in Php, I’m using php 4.3.10, and don’t know if this has been fixed.

And then, the original bug report at php.net:

From http://www.pcre.org/pcre.txt, LIMITATIONS:

“The maximum length of a subject string is the largest
positive number that an integer variable can hold. However,
PCRE uses recursion to handle subpatterns and indefinite
repetition. This means that the available stack space may
limit the size of a subject string that can be processed by
certain patterns.”

It should be noted that the maximum amount of data between pairs of tags
in this PCRE case is not a constant as it differs between platforms,
even with the same installed PHP versions. On a Debian box, I was able
to process about 11650 bytes between to matching div tags.

Seems I was so lucky, using a silly but right solution before knowing the causes.
There will be some related documentation for xlanguage.

Thanks pgroell.

Keeping Track of All of Your Tasks?

From Slashdot.

from the all-about-the-organizational-skillz dept.
An anonymous reader asks: “I work for a Fortune 500 Company as a Unix sysadmin and at any given time I may be working with 10 different project teams, each with their own milestones, tasks/to-dos, notes and reportable status. I’m constantly losing track of tasks that I need to do, notes I’ve taken and status reports that I’ve written. I’ve tried paper solutions, PDAs, Microsoft Project and groupware type stuff and nothing really seems designed to allow me to track mulitple project with mulitple tasks and to-dos as well as keep up with the status and notes that I generate from each of these tasks. How do you keep it all straight?”

We use a web CMS called Xoops for the IT departement intranet. We use a “bug tracker” called xHelp that is integrated with the CMS. Xoops also offers basic project management. It’s a no brainer setup, real easy to get started with. For documentation, we use PukiWiki which does the job of organizing useful information. You may also want to look in “tracking” software (refered to as “trackers”) which may be of use in your situation. Hope it helped.

Hey there. I’m also a UNIX Admin for a Fortune 500 company. Recently I was promoted to “lead” and I just got slammed with tasks to track.

You’re having trouble managing all your projects. Take a project management class. Don’t necessarily go for the certification. Then take a time management class. Get those fundamentals.

There is a solution to this problem of tracking your tasks, I use it every day. It is in two steps:
Have one (1) boss.
Have one (1) girlfriend
that’s it! whenever you are within earshot of either of those two people, THEY will tell you exactly what to do, when to do it, and where to do it. The why they keep secret on a “need to know” basis….. They are completely capable of accounting for your time 24/7, so you don’t have to sweat it!

> I usually just use my mom. I have so many projects going on here at the house it is crazy. When ever she starts yelling I know I missed something and I get told what it is.
When you grow up and become an adult you no longer need your mom to yell at you to manage your projects.
You’ll have a wife doing it.
